get help paying for training

get certified. launch a career.

Through the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), we can pay for you to attend local training programs to get new skills or obtain a professional certification.

There are possibilities for training or certification in many different occupations, and in many different industries in DuPage County, including information technology, manufacturing, office & clerical, trucking & logistics, accounting, and more.

Job seekers who live in DuPage County, or who were laid off from a company in DuPage County, may apply for a WIOA grant at workNet DuPage. Those living outside of DuPage County may apply, but DuPage residents are given priority. If you are receiving unemployment benefits, you can continue to receive them while you are taking classes.

If you are found to be eligible, an Assessment appointment will be set up with a Career Planner to determine your eligibility for scholarship funding.

Before your Assessment, please research and visit several schools that provide the training you need. By doing this research before your appointment, we will be able to assess your status and plans more quickly and prevent any delay in starting training. Consider the following questions:

  • Is the school that I’m considering an approved training provider?
  • How much does the program cost? (the WIOA program can fund up to $10,000 of training.)
  • Is this training necessary for me to become employed? (If it is, please be prepared to tell your Career Planner why.)
  • Will I be able to find a job related to this program after I finish training?
  • Is this type of job in-demand?
